Peacefully, at the Kings County Memorial Hospital, on
November 30th, 2016 of Reg Mellish in his 103rd
year. Born in Union Road PEI, he was the son of the late
Robert and Annie Mellish. He was a life long farmer in New
Perth. While he farmed livestock and crops he was most proud of his
award winning potatoes. Along with his own farms he traveled miles
with his tractor to do "custom work". He served in the PEI
reservists, and was an avid tug of war enthusiast and curler in his
younger days. He was very active in the 4-H program, always starting
the general meetings with a riddle. He was a long time trustee of the
New Perth School. He loved to play his fiddle and was still playing
hymns in his last weeks. He was a life long member of the Montague
Church of Christ, often telling the story of attending in his early
years by horse and wagon. He spent his last 10 years with
the care and compassion of what he called his second family at
Perrin’s Marina Villa in Montague. There he was active as
Chair of the Villa Council and a regular contributor to the Villa
newsletter. He received daily visitors, loved to chat and tell
stories, and was a source of knowledge of both family and local
history. Left to reflect on his long and active life are his children,

Hill , NS and Elizabeth Crouse (Brian) Valley, NS, grandchildren
