Ross MacDonald (Royal Canadian Army Service Corps – The Cape
Breton Highlanders) Peacefully passed away with his brother by his
side at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge in Belfast on March 18,
2017, at the age 102. He was born in Kinross, PEI on December 24, 1914
to Mary Elizabeth Ross (Dolly) and Murdock Peter MacDonald. David is
survived by his older brother Donald (Kinross, PEI). Predeceased by
his sisters Mary (Wood), Clara (Jardine), Grace (MacDonald), Ruby
(Olsen) and Dorothy (Sorette). Left with loving and cherished fond
memories are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great
grandnieces, great grandnephews and cousins (Canada and U.S.A) as well
as many dear friends and neighbors.
The family gratefully appreciate the loving care and
attention provided by all the staff at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial
Lodge this past year. And also the Chenell Family for looking after
him for many years when he was no longer able. Much appreciation and
thanks to the MacKinnon Family, Lloyd, David and Jeannie MacDonald and
David and Anne MacDonald for your kindness and thoughtfulness all
these years. Many thanks to Dr. Stacy Champion, Dr. Terry Magennis and
all the HomeCare nurses.
Visitation will take place at St. Andrews United Church
in Vernon Bridge, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00
p.m.,Royal Canadian will hold a tribute Service at 2:00 pm
followed by Funeral Service. Internment will take place later in the
Spring in the Orwell Head Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations in David’s honour may be made to the charity of
your choice. Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
