Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on October 20, 2019 the passing of Janice B. MacKay (Beaton), age 88 of Gurrnsey Cove, PE, formerly of Flat River occurred. She was predeceased by her husband Orrin MacKay in November 1993 and her mother Etta (Beaton) Ferguson. Janice taught school for 35 years. In her retirement years she enjoyed travelling to Europe, the UK, United States and Canada. Due to failing health, Janice spent her last few years at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff. She leaves to mourn many first cousins, Malcolm Beaton, Mellie Glover, and Donald Beaton on PE, Mary (Beaton) Goodwin, Irma Nicholson, George Nicholson, Helen Kirkness, Eleanor Craven, in the USA, and many other cousins throughout Canada and the USA.

Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home with visiting on Thursday, October 24th from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral Service to be held on Friday, October 25th at 2 pm from the Memorial United Church, Murray River. Interment to follow in the Murray Harbour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Memorial United Church or Murray Harbour Cemetery would be appreciated.
