With
indescribable sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Derek
Jason Bell, age 49, of South Korea, formerly of Montague PE which
occurred on Saturday, November 14, 2020, while diving in the Jeju
Islands.
Born in
Montague, PE, on August 12, 1971, son of Scott and Brenda
(O’Connor) Bell. Derek was a graduate of Montague High
School and went on to St. Thomas University to earn his Bachelor of
Arts Degree and later his Masters Degree in ESL at the DanKook
University in Seoul where he stayed to teach. Derek spent his last 20
years in South Korea where he taught at various universities around

He returned annually to do what he loved most: spending time on the
water having fun with his friends and family. Derek had a love for
teaching, playing ball hockey, diving, wrestling and all things
outdoors. He also had a love for all animals that he came by honestly
from his parents Scott and Brenda. He is survived by his loving
parents, life partner HaeJeong Jin, aunts and uncles; Sandra Gordon,
Debby Shields (Raymond), Jerry Bell (Deirdre), John Bell (Cindy),
