It is with
heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne MacLeod, age 71,
surrounded by his family, on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in the care of
Valley Regional Hospital, ICU, Kentville. Wayne passed away knowing he
was loved and at peace.
Wayne was born and raised in
PEI, a proud Islander who played a big part in many prominent
construction products across Canada, including the build of the
Confederation Bridge. Pictures were proudly displayed at his home in
Centreville, and they traveled with him wherever he lived –
and there were many places!
A man who did
the job right, no cutting corners, only the best quality work was
acceptable, and you were told straight if that wasn’t the
case! Respected and admired by the businesses he worked for over the
years, Wayne was often sought out for his engineering and project
management expertise.
A man of the church,
Wayne’s life was fulfilled by his desire to show kindness
and compassion to all, making an impact on all those he met. Everyone
knew Wayne MacLeod.
Wayne was a devoted husband,
survived by his wife, the love of his life, Lynn. Her happiness and
that of his family was his priority, always wanting to make sure they
were taken care of. Proud Dad to Lorraine (Peter) and his children
through marriage, Holly (Joey), Troy (Becky), Robyn (Dave), Mark;
Wayne’s children, Kim Dodd and Wayne MacLeod Jr. A man of
strong family values, he took his role as father and mentor seriously.
A doting grandfather, big in stature and big in heart, those
"Papa hugs" will be missed by his grandchildren, Ashley,
Alyssah, David, Jack, Lucy, Poppy, Anna, Riley and Drew. He is also
survived by sisters, Geraldine Myers, Anne Marie (Colin) Deacon,
Annette Callaghan, Mary (David) MacLean; brothers Jamie (Susan)
Clarkin, Bobby Clarkin, Garth (Janice) Callaghan; sister-in-law, Wendy
Soward; many nieces and nephews.
He was
predeceased by his father, Gerald Clarkin (1993); mother, Norma
Callaghan (2020); grandmother, Annie MacLeod (1981); brother, Brent
(1971) and, sister, Diane Bradley (2018).
We
are thankful for the wonderful care our beloved Wayne received from
the doctors and nurses at the Valley Regional
