At the Dr.
John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge, the unexpected passing of Carolyn
Louise Strickland (nee Sutton), age 87, of Murray River, loving wife
of 64 years to Eugene Strickland, occurred on Thursday, April 18,
2024. Born in Brampton, ON, daughter of the late Harry and Kathleen
(Gooderham) Sutton. Survived by daughter, Ruth (Rick) Moore;
grandchildren, Benjamin, Matthew (Jasmin), Adam; great-grandchildren,
Preston, Matthew; sister Helen Younder; sister-in-law Elva and several
nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Philip and brother-in-law
Barrie Strickland.
Carolyn was a country girl
who loved P.E.I. and its nature. She loved bird watching. Chickadees
and humming birds especially, and always made sure their feeders were
full. She was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, listening to music
(Johnny Reid was her favorite), doing crossword jumbles, and
gardening. Nature and wildlife was always near and dear to her
heart.
Carolyn and Gene would go out on little excursions
over the years finding new places to eat, or simply enjoying a cup of
coffee. Life was always better when the two of them were together.
Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague
