After a short and remarkably courageous journey with
aggressive brain cancer, Wayne Bennett Perry aged 65 years, passed
peacefully surrounded by family. Residing in Montague PEI,
Wayne was married for 44 years to his best friend and love of his life
Audrey Perry (nee Gauthier). Adored father of Nikita (Jesse)
Norcott, and Noah. Devoted Grampie and hero to his cherished
grandchildren, Peter, Eddie, Alec and Maggie-Jane.
Special uncle to Jeff MacLennan and Stephen
Campbell.
Born on February
27th, 1960 to Firmin (Frank) and Alice, Wayne was the cherished baby
of the family. Wayne took immense pride in making a living
fishing lobster in Souris, PEI. He enjoyed his summers
"swinging clubs" on the golf course with his best buddies,
who witnessed his glory while sinking a hole-in-one at
Brudenell. Wayne was a friend and a confidant to many, with
his quick wit and valued advice. Although not much for
travelling, Wayne dedicated much time to making his grandkids' dreams
come true with trips to Montreal to see his beloved Habs - where he
discretely coerced them to be avid fans
themselves.
Wayne's
greatest joy in life was being a Grampie. Nothing made him
happier than his time spent with and for his grandkids. From
giving lawnmower drives, to spending countless hours perfecting the
"ODR", Grampie showered his grandkids with love and
support. If you needed to find him he was probably sitting
back row, center ice, sharing fries and gravy while cheering for one
of the kid's hockey teams.
Along with
his wife, children and grandchildren, left to mourn are his
siblings, Joan (Kenny) MacDonald, Linda (George) Campbell, Gordon
(Marlene), David (Vera), and Anne MacLennan. Brothers and
sisters-in-law, Randy (Bonnie) Gauthier, Don (Wendy) Gauthier, Alan
Gauthier, Judy Gauthier (Lorne MacSween), Ann Perry and
Wendy Arbing, and numerous nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Predeceased by his
parents, Frank and Alice Perry, parents-in-law Rita and Eddie
Gauthier, brothers Rex Earle, Gerard, and Arthur, brothers-in-law
Wayne MacLennan and John Campbell, and special nephew David
Gauthier.
No public
visitation by personal request. Funeral celebration to be
held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 11:00 am, with interment to follow in
the church cemetery. If so desired, donations can be made in
Wayne's name to the Souris MacIntyre House.
