It is with
heavy hearts that the family of Charles "Charlie" Scott
MacConnell announce his passing at the Queen Elizabeth hospital,
surrounded by family on November 19, 2025.
He
leaves behind his daughter, Katelyn (Mike) MacDonald, and his beloved
grandson, James Blake, who brought him endless joy.
Charlie is also survived by his parents, Benny (Linda)
MacConnell and Karen (Les) Mitchell; his five sisters, Nikki Scanlon,
Peggy (Patrick) Walsh, Billy Jean (Scott) Smith, Lexi (Travis) McLeod,
and Chandler MacConnell. His brothers Tommy Evans, Jody (Deanna)
Evans; his nieces and nephews who he cherished and was so proud of; as
well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who loved him
dearly.
He was predeceased by his sister, Suzanne
Gilbert, brother in-law Morgen McInnis, his grandmother Norma Gilbert,
her partner Claire Crawford and grandparents Flossie and Charlie
MacConnell.
A true friend to all, Charlie
was immensely proud to be from Georgetown. He held a deep love for the
community and took great pride in renovating his
grandparents’ home, a place that meant so much to
him.
Charlie worked hard throughout his life, including his
years in the diamond mines of Ekati, where he enjoyed the camaraderie
of his Newfoundland colleagues. He was happiest when with his
grandson, fishing, sharing stories, and spending time with his
lifelong friends.
He was certainly one of a kind,
the life of the party and will be deeply missed by all who knew and
loved him.
